About Us
Duo Art is a collaboration project of pianists Kookhee Hong and Minji Noh. Formed in 2014, they recently presented programs at St. Margaret’s Episcopal School, Chapman University, Irvine Valley College and Chaffey College. While their collaboration is relatively new, they are already in demand as recitalists and will present programs for Music Teachers Association of California, California Association of Professional Music Teachers and various music festivals in South Korea.

Dr. Kookhee Hong, a native of South Korea, began piano lessons at age four and won first prizes in numerous Korean national competitions. She continued her studies at Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia under tutelage of Elenor Sokoloff. She appeared in master classes by Emanuel Ax, Gary Graffman, Claude Frank, Sergio Perticaroli, Lev Natocheny and Peter Eicher. As a full scholarship student of Solomon Mikowsky, Dr. Hong completed Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees, Professional Studies Diploma and Doctor of Musical Arts Degree at Manhattan School of Music. She won first prize at the Carlet International Competition in Valencia, second prize at the Maria Canals International Competition in Barcelona, the audience prize and the Alicia de Larrocha Spanish Prize at the Andorra International Competition, and was also a prize winner at the Panama International Competition. Frequently in demand as a recitalist abroad, she also appeared as a soloist with the Tenerife Symphony, the Manhattan Symphony, the Carlet Sinfonia, the Gran Canaria Philharmonic and the Panama National Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Hong currently teaches as an adjunct professor at Hope International University. Her students have been accepted to prestigious music schools such as California State University, Fullerton, University of California Los Angeles and Eastman School of Music.

Dr. Minji Noh |
Dr. Minji Noh is active as a soloist and a chamber musician, and praised as a “superb pianist” by the Boston Globe. She started her piano career at age nine as a soloist with the Baroque Symphony in South Korea and subsequently appeared with others like Young Musicians Foundation Debut Orchestra, State Academic Orchestra of Ukraine, Orange County Symphony, La Mirada Symphony, and Bellflower Symphony. Her playing has been broadcasted on South Korea’s KBS, Wellesley Public Television, Irvine Public Television and heard on radio stations such as KUSC FM 91.5 and GBC AM 1190 of Los Angeles. A strong believer of collaboration in music, Dr. Noh is a founding member of Trio Alectrona with colleagues from the Pacific Symphony. In summer, Dr. Noh serves on the faculty of Casa Romantica Music Festival and Academy. She is passionate about teaching and also serves on the boards of non-profit organizations such as Music Teachers Association of California (MTAC), Junior Chamber Music (JCM) and California Association of Professional Music Teachers (CAPMT). She is currently an adjunct faculty of music at Irvine Valley College and Chaffey College. Dr. Noh graduated from both the Oberlin Conservatory and the New England Conservatory as, and completed her doctoral degree in piano performance at University of Southern California with Norman Krieger. Her principal teachers include Ick-Choo Moon, Hae Young Moon, Antoinette Perry, Angela Cheng, Patricia Zander and Steve Drury.
